Isuzu Trucks and the 2007 Emissions Standards

To start, remember that all of Isuzu’s diesel engines are designed to provide
you with the highest levels of performance, durability and
dependability at the lowest cost of operation – that’s vital for long-term
practicality. At the same time, Isuzu is also committed to meeting or
exceeding the current clean air standards.
Some of our 2007 emissions technology has been proven in over 60,000
Isuzu trucks operating successfully in Japan for the last three years.
Now here’s a quick review of what went into effect as of January 1, 2007:
- All new diesel trucks must comply with the new regulations that require
the reduction of nitrogen oxide (NOx) and hydrocarbons (HC) by
50 percent and particulate matter (PM) by 90+ percent compared to the
2004 emission standards.
- Further reductions of NOx, HC and PM will be required by 2010.
- Start the engine on a 2008 model and pay close attention to what’s
actually coming out of the exhaust pipe: Just a bunch of hot air! You
can’t see it and you can’t smell it – the diesel revolution has arrived!
- Isuzu 2007i & 2008 can use of up to 5% biodiesel that meets
ASTM D 975 and D 6751 standards in 2007i and 2008 4HK1 engines.
